A 13-year-old boy died on a dirt bike when Boynton Beach police attempted a traffic stop Sunday afternoon.Police said the teen was driving recklessly on Boynton Beach Boulevard and went down along the 800 block of North Federal Highway during the pursuit.“Our hearts go out to the family members of this young person, and they can trust that we and our law enforcement partners will be conducting a series of thorough and meticulous investigations into the circumstances of what occurred,” Boynton Beach Police Chief Michael Gregory said.The officer involved will be placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation, per department policy.Police said they will provide updated information about the teen once they have confirmed proper notification of next of kin.The Florida Highway Patrol will now be the lead investigating law enforcement agency in reference to this incident.Anyone with information is asked to call the police.This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
