MILFORD — An Ansonia man accused of stabbing his wife to death in an apartment while two of their children were home has pleaded not guilty.

Kamil Zielinski, 28, asked for a jury trial during a remote appearance Dec. 29 where he appeared in court via videoconference from Garner Correctional Institution in Newtown.

Zielinski also waived a probable cause hearing — a procedural requirement for defendants charged with murder — that had been originally scheduled for Wednesday.

A message was left with Zielinski’s lawyer, Adrian Baron.

Zielinski was arrested Nov. 9 following the killing of his wife, Grace Zielinska, while the couple’s 3-year-old and 4-month-old were in the family’s Root Avenue home and a 5-year-old was at school.

Cops responding to a 911 call from the Root Avenue home allegedly found Zielinski covered in his wife’s blood, after which police said he told them, “What have I done? Shoot me. Just shoot me. I did it.”

He has been behind bars since his arrest, after which a judge ordered him put on suicide watch.

He is currently being held at Garner Correctional in lieu of $1 million bond on charges of murder and risk of injury to a minor.

Zielinska’s killing prompted domestic violence victims’ advocates to take a closer look at the issue locally.
