Four dead after SUV crashes into van in Rollinsford


Four people died after a crash Sunday night in Rollinsford, police said.The Rollinsford Police Department said they responded to a crash on Portland Avenue near Toll Road at 8:30 p.m.Police said a 2014 Subaru Forester crossed into traffic and hit a 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan. The Rollinsford Fire Department said the Subaru immediately burst into flames when it crashed.The man driving the Subaru died at the scene. No one else was in the car.All three men in the Dodge died as a result of the crash. A passenger died at the scene. The driver and another passenger died in a hospital. Rollinsford police said the men in the van were Peter Ronchi, 58, Gavin Sorge Jr., 22, and Sean Kamszik, 23, all of South Berwick, Maine. Firefighters said it took 20 minutes for multiple departments to get the three victims out of the Dodge van.An autopsy will be conducted tomorrow on one of the passengers to see if his death was caused by the crash or the car fire. The cause of death will determine if the New Hampshire Fire Marshal or police will take over the investigation. Police said they have not released the Subaru driver’s identity while they notify his family. Seven people have died in car crashes since Thursday. Rollinsford police said Rollinsford Fire Department, Dover police, Dover Fire Department, South Berwick, Maine police, South Berwick, Maine Fire, New Hampshire Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, New Hampshire Fire Marshal’s Office, New Hampshire Department of Transportation, Strafford County Regional Accident Reconstruction Team and Rollinsford Highway Department assisted at the scene.Rollinsford police said the incident is under investigation.
