The apparent murder-suicide happened in Meridianville.

MERIDIANVILLE, Ala. — The Madison County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an apparent murder-suicide in Meridianville.

Deputies responded to a domestic disturbance call with shots fired. When they arrived, they found an adult man and a 14-year-old boy dead from gunshot wounds. Investigators say that the 911 call was placed by a 16-year-old girl, who said her brother and father were arguing when she heard gunshots.

Investigators say they don’t know what lead up to the argument and shooting or what back story there may be. The victims’ names are also not being released at this time out of respect for the family. They are expected to be identified this weekend.

Sheriff Kevin Turner said, “There are many details we don’t know at this time. What I do know is that this is yet another example of senseless gun violence. It shakes our community to its core. My heart goes out to those affected by today’s senseless tragedy. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.”

The shooting is domestic violence-related and is isolated to the immediate area. No other suspects are being sought in the investigation.
