EL DORADO — On January 10, 2022, David J. Poulter from El Dorado, KS was charged with 1st-degree murder, aggravated arson, and assault on a law enforcement officer in connection to the house fire on January 7, 2022, in the 300 block of N Taylor St in El Dorado, Butler County, Kansas.

On January 7, 2022, the El Dorado Police Department and the El Dorado Fire Department responded to the 300 block of N Taylor in El Dorado, Kansas for a report of a house fire.

First responders arrived on the scene of the fire and learned there was an individual inside of the home.

Emergency personnel was able to retrieve this individual from the home and administered life-saving measures. Unfortunately, the individual did succumb to their injuries and was pronounced deceased.

The cause of the fire and the death are pending further investigation.
