Police: Gloversville man charged with murder in woman’s death; Domestic violence cited

GLOVERSVILLE – A Gloversville man has been charged with murder in the death of a woman, whose body was found Tuesday at a Carpenter Street apartment, police said Wednesday.

Robert A. Warner, 39, of Gloversville, now faces one count of second-degree murder, police said.

Police identified the woman killed as Katherine E. Adkins, 43, of Gloversville.

Police described her death as occurring as the result of a domestic violence incident.

The investigation began just before noon Tuesday as police were dispatched to 11 Carpenter St., Apt. 6, to check on someone there. A caller requested that police check on Adkins, police said.

Officers arrived and soon found Adkins dead. Based on the scene and officer observations, police called in detectives and they got a search warrant.

Members of the New York State Police Forensic Investigation Unit conducted the search, while an area canvass was done by Gloversville detectives, assisted by state police. Police had Carpenter Street between Forest and Washington streets closed for the investigation.

Police then identified Warner as a suspect in the case and quickly took him into custody, police said.

Warner was arraigned Tuesday evening and ordered held without bail. He was due back in court Wednesday.

The investigation remained active Wednesday. No additional suspects were being sought. Anyone with any information is asked to contact Gloversville police at 518-773-4577.
