11 News has learned new details about an officer who was assaulted at a traffic stop that turned violent.WBAL-TV was on the scene last night and today we’ve learned a lot more about the assault and what led to it.According to officials, it all started around 8:00 p.m., when police said an officer was assaulted while working uniform secondary employment near White Marsh Mall. According to the investigation so far, it appears someone assaulted the officer.According to police, they later pulled over that suspect’s vehicle at the intersection of Philadelphia Road and Hamilton Avenue in Rosedale. Investigators said the driver began ramming police cruisers and other people driving nearby with her car. Officials said that’s when one of the officers fired. The driver then fled, and officers followed her into Baltimore City, where they eventually took her into custody near Johns Hopkins Hospital. She was then taken into the hospital for treatment.”It wasn’t just police cars that were being rammed by the suspect’s vehicle. There were innocent bystanders at this intersection also involved,” Baltimore County police spokesperson, Joy Lepola-Stewart, said.According to reports, the suspect started ramming the police cruisers into bystanders’ vehicles. We know that a passenger was in the vehicle and was taken into custody as well. All patients, including the police officer and suspect are being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
