Two Georgia Deputies Killed While Serving A Warrant At A Suburban Home

Tragedy has struck again. Two deputies serving a warrant were killed Thursday night in a suburb near Atlanta.

The Cobb County Sheriff’s Office tweeted initially that the two deputies had “died in the line of duty.” They also confirmed that a SWAT team and other law enforcement officers remained at the scene.

“I’m saddened to report this evening that the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office has lost two young, bright deputies,” Sheriff Craig Owens announced at a news conference. “These two deputies served Cobb County with dignity and honor.”

The two were “ambushed” and “killed” while attempting to serve a warrant at home in Marietta. The suspects, whose names have not been released, were arrested after an hours-long standoff with police, SWAT, and FAST teams, the Macon Newspaper reported.

The warrant was for failure to appear for theft by deception, the sheriff continued.

Deputies knocked on the door of the home. After they got no answer, they headed back to their cars, and that’s when a person believed to be one of the suspects arrived at the home in a vehicle. Gunfire erupted shortly afterward.

One suspect shot from a car, and the second shot from the house, WSB-TV reported.
